Change in 2024 Medicare Medical & Surgical Vision Benefit Administration

Effective Jan. 1, 2024, vision administration for all medical and surgical eye care claims for Wellcare^ Medicare Advantage plans in Louisiana, Mississippi, and New Hampshire will transition to Wellcare.

You will continue to be reimbursed under your current contracted rates and there will be no changes to your current provider agreement.  Envolve Vision will continue to administer the medical and surgical vision benefit for the remainder of 2023.

Medicare Advantage claims with a date of service on or after January 1, 2024 should be submitted to the new vision benefit administrator listed below:

On April 22, 2024, UnitedHealth Group issued a press release, providing an update on the Change Healthcare cybersecurity incident that occurred on Feb. 21, 2024. Given the size of the data impacted, the investigation to determine whose data is impacted is expected to take several months. UnitedHealth Group believes this situation will impact “a substantial proportion of people in America” and is offering immediate credit monitoring and identity protection services, as well as a dedicated contact center to address questions.
